So Disappointed

What could disappoint me horribly about Obama?

One Word:

Budweiser

Second Horrible Word?:

Skipping Church Can Be Dangerous

PLAIN CITY, Utah — Police in Utah say a 7-year-old boy led officers on a car chase in an effort to avoid going to church.

Dispatchers received reports of a child driving recklessly on Sunday morning. Weber County Sheriff’s Capt. Klint Anderson says one witness said the boy drove through a stop sign.

Home & Tired

Jameson has been moved. The guys did all the work. I just drove his bicycle up there after I taught. I would have taken pictures, but the place isn’t exactly fixed up yet, so those will have to wait.

Dan and I are home and I’m tired. I’m guessing he is as well. They guys had to figure out how to get our old sofabed into the place and it sounds like it was quite the challenge. (So much so that Jameson said, “When I move I’m just going to saw it in half!”)

Now to rest (and watch the Giants, who are playing poorly right now).

Meanwhile … I saw this on Twitter and loved it: “Do good and don’t worry to whom.” – Mexican Proverb

:-)

Tomorrow

… is the day Jameson moves pretty much completely to San Francisco. He’s been moving things this past week, but when the bed goes up, that’s sort of it, you know?

I realize that my “baby” moved to Santa Cruz for two years of school, but this will be different, since I won’t be able to drive him to and fro each weekend. I’m gonna miss the drives we had; driving with kids is a great way to spend time with them, since the only way to escape a parent is to jump out of the car. So far none of my kids has done that. Whew!

Tonight Jameson’s busy cleaning out his room. He came out earlier with his cowboy hat (from a show at Lincoln) and a bit later he was wearing cowboy boots (from the same musical). I suppose he’s going down memory lane right now. :-)

Um … Huh??

Someone sent this to me … I watched it and … um … well … I’m still processing it …

A Kind Thief

A man said it’s a tough way to learn a lesson but he’s a lot wiser. Someone made off with Mark Neary’s driver’s license and other items from his unlocked car early Wednesday, and left a message behind. Neary said he found a note telling him he had “amazing taste” in music.

The note said the thief had taken credit cards and his driver’s license and advised him to “lock your car in the future.”
Neary said it could have been worse. The keys were in the ignition and the thief could have driven off with his car.

Paint Update

I am nearly done priming the living room. My hands look as if I’ve painted the walls with bare hands rather than using the brush and roller. I sure am a mess when I paint! I really think the wallpaper needs to go, but I have no energy to dig into THAT project right now. (Dan, wanna help?!)

I could actually get the color on tomorrow. If not then, I’ll do it Monday. This is a good thing, because I really need to be focusing on Cosi fan tutte, which I begin on July 29.

Now I’m enjoying chips and a small portion of guacamole (I sent the container with the boys and Megan, as they are planning a picnic in San Francisco after they move some things to Jameson’s apartment) and a large glass of milk. I forgot to eat any meals today! OOPS!

Let the Painting Begin

… after I teach two students, that is.

I’m a bit bummed. I’m going to have to prime the living room before putting the color on. I always hate doing that; I want instant gratification. And I’m not even certain the color IS the color we’ll want. Guess I’ll find out, eh? I hate it when I paint something and immediately decide the color was wrong. Although I’ve painted several spots in the room to see if I like it I honestly don’t think I can tell until the room is done … and the room won’t truly be done yet because I’m leaving the wallpapered wall as is for now; I just don’t have the energy to remove wallpaper right now! (And yet I’m nearly 100% certain it’ll look awful on the wall after I change the paint color. Sigh.)

So now it’s about time to get ready to teach my two students of the day. Of course they boys (Brandon is here) are still asleep. But that’s not my problem! :-)

August 1

Our furniture is to arrive Saturday, August 1. I teach that morning, and then I play a wedding for a former student in the afternoon. I’m really hoping they will be delivering in the morning so I can at least be home. Otherwise I’ll have to get a “house sitter”. I’ll get a call a few days ahead of the date to get the 2 hour (?) window for the delivery.

Now I’m looking around this incredibly messy family room and hoping we can get some things out of here. Once we get the sofa and love seat to Jameson’s the room will be easier to clean up.

It’s weird to spend so much money and, at this point, have nothing to show for it.

I Did It!

I just purchased (I would write “bought” but purchased sounds so much more hoity toity or something, don’t you think?) a sofa, chair and leather ottoman/bench thing. How darn cool is that?

How darn poor am I?

No clothes. No buying fun “stuff”. No going out to dinner. No nothin’ for at least 6 months. BUT I’m SO excited to replace our family room furniture. WOO HOO!

… and now I’m going to figure out what color to paint the living room, I think. (I don’t pay for that, and of course paint is pretty darn cheap so it shouldn’t be a big deal.)

I can’t believe I saved enough to do this. Now of course I hope I like the stuff when it arrives. But if not? Well. It’s only money.

:-)

I guess I’m either really bad at the whole “dealing” thing, or Crate and Barrel isn’t at all willing to do that. And I spent MEGA BUCKS. Really. They wouldn’t even give me a free delivery. Then the salesperson who barely helped me at all called to ask if I wanted to spend MORE and get the things sprayed with some kind of stain resistant stuff. Um. Hello? You barely helped me and you got a great commission only because I mentioned your name and now you want me to spend more? How ’bout throwing that in for free because of how much I spent. Huh? Huh?
