Nearly Over

So many things are coming to a close. Some are big, some not so big.

The symphony set (Verdi Requiem) is a litte thing. Performance tonight and tomorrow.

But …

Jameson has his final show of Fiddler on the Roof tonight. And this is the final musical of his high school career. At the last minute I decide to go to another (third for me) show this afternoon. I was weepy, I confess. He was fabulous. As always.

Jameson also has a decision to make. He’s been accepted to SJSU, SFSU, SDSU, UCI and UCSC. He’s not heard from Cal State Fullerton, but he’s decided already that he’s not interested in that university any longer. I’m hoping he can choose something that will make everyone happy here!

Me? I want him to go where he’ll be most content. I want him to choose. I really (honestly!) don’t have any “this is the best” choice.

So of course this is the beginning of the end (of high school) and nearly the beginning of the beginning (of college).

Do you know what this MEANS?

We are nearing the beginning of a “Mom doesn’t drive anyone anywhere” phase.

Wow.

And next year (when I say “year” I’m always talking school year … which is also the Symphony Silicon Valley/Opera San José/AMTSJ year) I’ll not have to wake up because of anyone else’s schedule.

Bizarre. Amazing. Wonderful!

Still, I’m going to miss having any child here. Boo hoo. Oh shoot, now I’m going to get all weepy again.

I hate eggplant, but I DO love the color

Your Birthdate: November 19

You are resilient, and no doubt your resilience has already been tested.
You’ve had some difficult experiences in your life, but you are wise from them.
Having had to grow up quickly, you tend to discount the advice of others.
You tend to be a loner, having learned that the only person you can depend on is yourself.

Your strength: Well developed stability and confidence

Your weakness: Suspicion of others

Your power color: Eggplant

Your power symbol: Spade

Your power month: October

Um … stability!? Heh. Right.

OH DEAR!

Because of my lack of sleep last night I came home from driving Jameson to school and went back to sleep for a while.

A “while” turned into a very long time. I woke up, looked at the clock, and it was nearly 10:30.

Yikes.

This better not mean I won’t sleep tonight!

ARGH!

It is now 1:45. In the morning. I am still awake. I’ve been trying to sleep since sometime before 11:00. What to do? I’ve tried the hot shower. I’ve walked and walked (just around the house of course). I tried sleeping in the family room (sometimes the quiet in here helps). And I’m still awake. But very, very tired.

I’m going to be very grumpy tomorrow.

I mean today.

I Never Ever Ever Ever Disappoint

In order to transfer out £ 25,000,000.00 (Twenty Five Million Pounds Sterling)from our bank here,I have summoned-up courage to seek a capable and worthy person to handle a transaction of this magnitude, with the belief that he or she will not dissapoint me at last.

I am so kind. I am so gracious. And I never would disappoint this person.

You think I’ll be getting the money soon?

Oh. Wait. He wrote “dissapoint.” Now that I just might do. If I can figure out what that is.

And “summoned-up” … ? Didn’t know that’s one fine hyphenated word, yes?

Spam spelling errors are annoying. I just want to write to the idiots and say, “At least learn how to spell!” When I get these messages saying they “recieved my loan request” I want to yell. The least they could do is spell things correctly. I might just fall for the scam spam then.

Or not.

In Other News

You can go over to the oboe site to see a picture of Jameson in Fiddler. I’ll go see him tonight (Dan took pictures last night so he’s “getting” to stay home to correct papers. Lucky guy, eh?), and then Dan and I will see him a week from Friday. This is it, folks. The final musical of Jamson’s high school career. Wow.

So far…

Jameson has now been accepted to SJSU, SFSU, SDSU and … as of yesterday, UCSC!

Nice, eh?

Hah!

Funny. The iRack. (If you like the war, if you support Pres. B … well … maybe skip this one?)

Good Quote

“Creeds must disagree: it is the whole fun of the thing. If I think the universe is triangular, and you think it is square, there cannot be room for two universes. We may argue politely, we may argue humanely, we may argue with great mutual benefit: but, obviously, we must argue. Modern toleration is really a tyranny. It is a tyranny because it is a silence. To say that I must not deny my opponent’s faith is to say I must not discuss it.”
G.K. Chesterton, Illustrated London News, Oct. 10, 1908

I read this at About Last Night.

Woo Hoo!

The Giants are on TV! Channel 40. Playing the A’s. (I had to check about the apostrophe. I think it’s not really correct, but the A’s do it so I’ll go along with it. It’s not like they are the Athletic’s are they? No of course not. They are the Athletics. No apostrophe. Duh.)

So much fun to see a game. Yippee!

But so weird to see the Alou family anywhere though.

(And yes, I’m blogging quite a bit today, considering. Not exactly sure why. But it’s more fun that working on oboe reeds!)

Go Giants!!

Sigh

Don’tcha just love it when an actor in a show — playing an attorney no less — says “ekcetera”.

Heh.
