Charities

Wondering about the charities to which you donate? You can check them out with this charity navigator. I’ve not spent a lot of time with it, but I plan on perusing it soon.

Pretty Darn Bad

I don’t know that this guy has either a male OR a female leaning brain. He’s just plain dumb.

Carjacking Suspect Calls 911 on Himself

BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) — A carjacking suspect called 911 and turned himself in to police after he crashed a stolen sport utility vehicle twice and got lost while fleeing the crime scene, authorities said.

Claude King, 31, called police from a Palm Springs pay phone and confessed to stealing the SUV on Tuesday night, The Palm Beach Post reported.

”Um, I committed a crime,” he told the police dispatcher. ”I stole a vehicle.”

He asked for officers to respond to his location, but when the dispatcher asked where the vehicle was, King didn’t have an answer.

”I couldn’t even tell you,” he said. ”I don’t even know where I’m at.”

Boca Raton police found King waiting on a curb. He was being held without bail in the Palm Beach County Jail.

Hmmm

I took this test and it appears I think more like a man. Go figure. And I did pretty well on the 3-D shapes, which surprised me. Verbally I was a total failure. I prefer feminine facial features. I am extremely good at judging people’s emotions (by looking at eyes).

Here’s a bit of cut & paste info for yours truly:

Angles

This task tested your ability to identify the angle of a line by matching it with its twin. This is a spatial task, which looks at how you picture space.
Your score: 15 out of 20
Average score for men: 15.1 out of 20
Average score for women: 13.3 out of 20

Spot the difference

This task tested your ability to identify which objects changed position. You lost points, if you incorrectly identified objects.
Your score: 36%
Average score for men: 39%
Average score for women: 46%

Hands

You said your right thumb was on top when you clasped your hands together.

Right thumb on top: This suggests the left half of your brain is dominant. Many studies have tried to establish whether there is a relationship between handedness and brain dominance. Some scientists believe that if you are left brain dominant, you would be more verbal and analytical.

Left thumb on top: This suggests the right half of your brain is dominant. Some studies theorise that as a right brain dominant person, you may excel in visual, spatial and intuitive processes.

(I can’t even imagine putting my left thumb on top!)

Emotions and Systems

This task looked at whether you prefer to empathise or systemise.

Empathising

Your empathy score is: 7 out of 20
Average score for men: 7.9 out of 20
Average score for women: 10.6 out of 20

What does your result suggest?

Empathisers are better at accurately judging other people’s emotions and responding appropriately. If you scored 15 and above, you are very empathic and would be an ideal person to comfort people in a time of crisis. Women in general are better at empathising.

(Meh … who cares? ;-)

Systemising

Your systemising score is: 4 out of 20
Average score for men: 12.5 out of 20
Average score for women: 8.0 out of 20

(Uh-oh … I think this is bad!)

Eyes

This task tested your ability to judge people’s emotions.

Your score: 9 out of 10
Average score for men: 6.6 out of 10
Average score for women: 6.6 out of 10

Fingers

We asked you to measure your ring and index fingers. Your ratios came to:
Right Hand: 1
Left Hand: 0.97

Average ratio for men: 0.982
Average ratio for women: 0.991

Faces

This task looked at how you rate the attractiveness of a series of faces. The images you looked at were digitally altered to create slight differences in masculinity.

Your choices suggest you prefer more feminine faces.

3D shapes

This task tested your ability to mentally rotate 3D shapes.

Your score: 9 out of 12
Average score for men: 8.2 out of 12
Average score for women: 7.1 out of 12

(Hey … this was pretty good, eh?!)

Words

This task looked at your verbal fluency.

Your score: you associated 7 word(s) with grey and you named 5 word(s) that mean happy. We are assuming that all the words you entered are correct.

Average score for men: 11.4 words total
Average score for women: 12.4 words total

(No Comment … ;-)

Ultimatum

This task asked you how you would divide money.

If you had to split £50 with someone, you said you would demand £25

So far on the Sex ID test, men have demanded 51.6% (£25.80) of the pot and women have demanded 51.0% (£25.50), on average.

(WHY would anyone think they should get more? And, in reality, I’d settle for even less. Who cares, after all?)

I haven’t a clue what this means. Nor do I really care. It was just sort of fun. The remembering what’s changed thing was nearly impossible for me. I don’t think I’m all that visual.

But I guess I shouldn’t be a musician, eh? With that right thumb thing and all ….

Go Giants!

They are spending far too much (more than I make, believe it or not), but The Giants now have Barry Zito!

Addition
With having Barry Bonds and Barry Zito and their salaries I do hope The Giants play bery bery well.

Heh. Sorry.

What do you call this?

If someone takes a written article and copies a portion or all of it, it’s called plagiarism. But what if someone takes a written article and reads it in its complete form on a TV broadcast? Because that’s what Fox News just did with their announcement of Gerald Ford’s death.

Is that okay to do, or would one consider that stealing?

It was sort of fun, though, that I could read aloud exactly with the newscaster.

Merry Christmas

… and so while we celebrate Christ’s birth, we also give gifts. And my dear husband gave me one of his great pictures, for which I am very grateful!

You can see it here (along with pictures of Kelsey and Jameson).

Thank you, Dan!

The Animals

mouse

too small to offer
up my coat
i’ll give the baby
quiet

from a lamb’s point of view

i heard those angels singing
and i saw my master leaving
to see the Child

i cannot help but wonder
if this little One
this Savior of the people
will save my life as well

The Cow

His mother feeds him;
my milk is not needed.

Only my stench
Exists for them.

But I will low
and sing a song—

a moo-ing lullaby
for my Creator’s new ears.

No Time

I have no time to write at the moment, nor have I been keeping up with this blog nearly as well as I do with oboeinsight. But I think I’ll go ahead and post links as I see fit for the time being. Anything I post will be something that moved me and I thought might move you as well.

Advent 1955

If I were to post this poem I think I’d be breaking copyright law. So I won’t, even though I wish I could.

But anyway, you can click on the link and read it, can’t you?
