Even MORE Strange …

… than my dream of yesterday is that I forgot to mention that yesterday was Jameson’s 17th birthday! Gee … how did I skip over that at this site?

(I did mention it at the Mitchell family site that Dan’s family uses. Does that count for anything? Hope so!)

Anyway, the kids are now 24, 21 and 17. This is sort of difficult to believe. Wow!

I’m guessing I neglected writing about it here because this heat has me totally fried. Last night I went to bed and couldn’t sleep. I gave up and got out of bed at 1:00 or so. Finally went back to try to sleep. Woke at 2:30 and walked around a bit. Woke again at 4:00. Or something like that. Crummy hot weather. Loud yucky fan that keeps me from sleeping. :-(

So Strange

I was driving in the car. I can’t remember much more. I was just driving when I heard this extremely loud pop and felt something pierce my neck. And I thought, “This is what it feels like to die” as my neck went numb. Then I noticed that I didn’t see anything but white. And I felt entirely peaceful.

Then I woke up.

Very, very strange.

Well How ‘Bout That?

My Mother just had a pinot noir that she said she liked. To quote her, “This doesn’t taste like cough syrup!” (Or she said something like that, anyway. Right Mom?)

I’m here at my parents’ house. Greg and Jan are here (from Germany) and this is the second meal in a row I’ve had that Greg has cooked. If he lived here I think I’d be very, very fat. (He’s an absolutely superb cook!)

Jameson was here earlier, with his girlfriend Megan. He is going to be hurting tonight, I fear; he was on a bike ride earlier today and suffered a spill that has resulted in some bad and painful looking scrapes and cuts. Poor guy. :-(

And now I’m off … time to get home and go take another look at my lovely oboe studio! (Haven’t seen pictures? You should go to the oboe site and see what I have up so far. I’m hoping Dan will take more pictures … he’s much better at that sort of thing! I’ll have two more pictures to hang, though, before the room is close to done. I also have to see if the rocker/glider I spent mega-bucks on will fit. (Jameson said it won’t, but I’m hoping I can make it work!)

Fourth of July

Kelsey'sFlag:

(This isn’t exactly your “happy go lucky” sort of picture. Kelsey did it after the terrorist attacks here. But, to me, this is very much a part of who we are now in the USA.)

Anyway, I hope everyone has a “safe and sane” day. Or else a safe and insane day. Whatever. ;-)

Mostly, let’s all hope the Giants win.

Right?

Getting Better All The Time

The foot is improving. It still hurts, but nothing like yesterday. I have a feeling, though, that I had better skip using the machines at the club for a few days. As one friend (Hi Debbie!) kindly said, “Well, you COULD do the upper body stuff!!! ;-) ”

She’s right.

I could.

Will I? Hmmm. I’m guessing that until I get the wallpaper up, and order my new carpet, I’ll be pretending I can’t possibly do anything at the club. I’m a very good pretender. Really.

I’m in the mood, too, to clean the house. I mean clean clean which is more than just clean, in case you don’t know that. I’ve already put together a lot of bags of books and clothing that will be donated to somewhere (whoever calls first, or else I’ll drive to Goodwill. We’ll see!). Jameson seems to have caught the bug too. I see a good number of bags outside his door.

(Brief insert of nothing important: Someone just drove past with the bass blasting so loudly it hurt my ears and rattled the windows. Anyone who knows about my house knows that where I’m sitting—in the family room‐is quite far from the street.)

Wow … watching Ebert & Roeper … Ebert just ripped The Devil Wears Prada. Wow. Brutal. I’m going back and forth on whether I want to see it. I usually like Meryl Streep, so I’m guessing she’ll make it worth the sit. We’ll see.

The Giants are only one game back. Woo hoo!

Big Ouch

Something is wrong with my right foot. Really wrong. It might be related to a bad step I took yesterday, but it sure is odd that I didn’t have any problem last night or this morning. But Jameson and I were returning some things at Target, and while there my foot started hurting. After a trip to Home Depot (don’t attempt going there OR Dunn Edwards for anything wallpaper related!) and a wallpaper store, I could barely walk. Driving was a killer.

So now I’m home and I’m icing the foot, having taken some Ibuprofen. It hurts like crazy. Like “I can’t walk, I can’t think, I can’t stand it!” pain.

Sigh.

Guess I won’t be doing the wallpaper today after all.

In other (better!) news I’ve decided that I can wait on a new MacBook and I’m going to buy carpet for my studio. Now is simply the best time to do it, before any furniture goes in there. And I’ve been saving money for a while now, so it really won’t even hurt. Not bad, eh?! I’d go shopping for it NOW but … well … you know … sigh.

Stupid foot.

(And now I have to stop typing, as the pain is so bad I can’t do this any more.)

Update for the Worriers
I found a better position for my foot … NOT elevated helps, believe it or not! So I’m so much better. So, not to worry, I believe I’ll live. (But I won’t be doing any walking or driving today, that’s for sure.)
