“… the next war will be a war in which people not armies will suffer, and
our boasted, hard-earned civilization will do us no good. Cannot the women rise
to this great opportunity and work now, and not have the double horror, if
another war comes, of losing their loved ones, and knowing that they lifted no
finger when they might have worked hard?”-Eleanor Roosevelt (1884ˆ1962)
written in 1925; quoted in, “Eleanor and Franklin,” ch. 27, by Joseph P. Lash
(1971)
(Not only the “next war” … but war after war after war ….)
***WHAT???
It’s 6-3 A’s. What’s with my team? The Giants should win. After all, Giants are GIANTS and the A’s are just … well … athletics (whatever that means!).
So the kids are watching a movie, because I have such a rough time watching the Giants losing. Of course if they now win I’ll feel like a horrible fan.
***Dan’s Site
has this quote:
“Where all think alike, no one thinks very much.” by Walter Lippmann
Now here’s the thing … I’m so wimpy that I’ll now allow myself, so much of the time, to admit I think differently (or different, according to Apple!). I’d rather remain silent and keep the peace.
Go figure.
