***WHERE Is My Brain?
I just looked at my calendar. It is a calendar that has a ton of information — my life, Dan’s trips, school schedules … AND dentist and doctor’s appointments.
I forgot all about Jameson’s orthodontist appointment this morning at 8:30.
Sigh.
I’ve done this two times now. I suspect they may charge me this time, which I do understand. (I do that with my students — one “grace” miss and the next they must pay.)
Rats and double rats.
***Update on the LA Kid
He’s here! Brandon and all his stuff arrived last night, along with Dan & Kelsey, at about 11:30. Our garage is no longer able to hold both of our cars. We now have to figure out how we are going to fit things in this house. I’m not sure it’ll be possible. Brandon says he’s happy to sleep on the floor and nix the bed just to give more space to all his belongings. I suppose that’s one way to deal with it ….
***Where Did June Go?
I can’t quite figure it out. The month is gone, and I hadn’t really adjusted to it even being June yet.
***Kelsey Dyed Her Hair
and it looks fabulous! I love having a daughter who can try different colors and styles. It’s great fun.

***And They Are Off!
Dan & Kelsey left very early this morning for LA. Dan said 4:00 was their aim but since I slept through there departure I have no idea if they managed that horrendous time. Kelsey will meet Mel at some point today (What? You thought she was going down to help load the truck?) and Brandon and Dan will pack Brandon’s belongings into a U-Haul trailer. Then the three Mitchells will drive back up here.
All in one day. Whew!
I’m looking forward to seeing Brandon, but I haven’t a clue how we’ll fit his stuff in our house.
***I Told Kelsey Her Site Needed Updating. Very funny, my dear.

***Two Movies, Truth and Violence
I didn’t see Passion of the Christ because of its violence, even while I believe it is based on truth. (I also believe that it has some errors in it from all I’ve heard and read. Ah well.)
I won’t be seeing Farenheit 9/11 because of its violence, even while I believe it has some truths in it (as well as some exaggerations and omissions, from what I’ve heard and read). Ah well.
I know some people who have seen the former film but refuse to see the latter, and I know others who will see the latter but not the former. I’ve heard “propaganda” used to refer to both films. I’ve heard “truth” used for both as well. In regard to both films some emails I’ve read are incredibly hostile and resort to name-calling.
Ah well.

***BQOD (baseball quotes of the day)
In football the object is to march into enemy territory and cross his goal. In baseball the object is to go home.
-George Carlin
Baseball is a game played by idiots for morons.
-F. Scott Fitzgerald
A critic once characterized baseball as six minutes of action crammed into two-and-one-half hours.
-Ray Fitzgerald
***Silliness
Okay … bear with me here:
With Bobby Crosby batting, Jermaine Dye caught stealing 2nd base, catcher Yorvit Torrealba to second baseman Ray Durham to first baseman Pedro Feliz to shortstop Neifi Perex to catcher Yorvit Torrealba.
I copied this information from the Gameday site, but I can tell you there was actually at least one more throw in order to tag out Crosby, so as crazy as the above reads, it was actually crazier.
As the sportscasters were saying “How many Giants does it take to tag Bobby Crosby out?”
And the Giants lost last night. (sigh) Perhaps this game will go better, but so far I’m not feeling terribly positive.
Ah well … it’s not like it’s a concert or something else important.

***QOD
“… the next war will be a war in which people not armies will suffer, and
our boasted, hard-earned civilization will do us no good. Cannot the women rise
to this great opportunity and work now, and not have the double horror, if
another war comes, of losing their loved ones, and knowing that they lifted no
finger when they might have worked hard?”
-Eleanor Roosevelt (1884ˆ1962)
written in 1925; quoted in, “Eleanor and Franklin,” ch. 27, by Joseph P. Lash
(1971)
(Not only the “next war” … but war after war after war ….)
***WHAT???
It’s 6-3 A’s. What’s with my team? The Giants should win. After all, Giants are GIANTS and the A’s are just … well … athletics (whatever that means!).
So the kids are watching a movie, because I have such a rough time watching the Giants losing. Of course if they now win I’ll feel like a horrible fan.
***Dan’s Site
has this quote:
“Where all think alike, no one thinks very much.” by Walter Lippmann
Now here’s the thing … I’m so wimpy that I’ll now allow myself, so much of the time, to admit I think differently (or different, according to Apple!). I’d rather remain silent and keep the peace.
Go figure.
