***Update

Kelsey is gone. Back to UCI, that is. Brandon is gone as well. Back to UCLA. Boo hoo. My children have left. Two of three, that is. And Jameson is at youth group right now. My is this house quiet!

But more important than my missing children (well, sort of!):

My hand is feeling better!

Yep … I’ve been using a ton of Advil (a friend who has had to deal with pain told me just how much I can really take) and I think it’s getting better. I also think I’ve figured out when I damaged it; I believe it was when I was doing yard work and I was using the clippers.

Moral of the story: don’t do yard work.

***Kelsey is Stressed

So our noisy house is a bit much for our dear daughter! How about that? (I do recall a time, Kelsey, when you were part of the noise! Guess you’ve changed, eh?) Somehow I enjoy the noise … feels alive to me!

It’s been great having the entire family home. I’ve loved seeing Brandon and Kelsey. Both leave today. The house will become very quiet. I’m thankful that Jameson is still here. Only 3 1/2 more years, probably, but he’s here and I’m glad.

***Pain

My right hand has been giving me trouble for about two weeks now. I will attempt to see a doctor tomorrow. I’d go today, but I have church and opera. At last night’s opera there were times when I thought I wasn’t going to be able to hold the oboe or English horn. This is getting distressing; I have Nutcracker in a week and a half, and if I can’t play, it’ll be a huge loss of income. Hmmm. I guess that means I play no matter what.

The thing is, I’ve always been rather proud of my strong hands. (Yeah, I know, Pride goeth before the fall… sigh.) Now I can’t even hold a coffee cup in my right hand without hurting. A lot. I’ve had some stiffness before, but nothing like this. The pain isn’t in the joints; it feels more like muscle pain below my thumb, going up my palm as well as across my hand, and now is going into my little finger. What to do?

But that’s enough complaining. I am a big girl. I’ll deal.

***Two Weeks

Yep. The kids’ll be back in two weeks. That’ll just fly by, I’m sure.
